About ClearVault

Software Has a Lifespan. Your Data Shouldn’t.

Organizations replace software all the time.

The problem is that the data inside those systems often needs to remain accessible for years or decades after the application itself has reached the end of its useful life.

ClearVault gives organizations a way to retire legacy systems while keeping their historical data searchable, governed, exportable, and accessible.

Retire the system. Keep access to the data.

Why We Built ClearVault

It Started With 30 Years of Data and Nowhere Good to Put It

ClearVault started with a problem we saw firsthand.

We were helping a small town move from an older software system to a new platform. During the migration, the new software provider told them they would only migrate the most recent two years of data.

The town had nearly 30 years of historical records.

They still needed those records. They just didn’t need the old software anymore.

The options weren’t great.

They could keep paying for a legacy system simply to look up old information. They could export the data into raw files or storage that would be difficult for employees to use. They could build a custom solution. Or they could accept that decades of information would become much harder to access.

There should have been a simpler answer.

That experience became the idea behind ClearVault.

We built ClearVault so organizations can separate the lifespan of their data from the lifespan of the software that created it.

What We Believe

Applications Are Temporary. Data Isn’t.

The systems organizations use will continue to change.

ERP platforms get replaced. Finance systems are upgraded. Permitting applications are retired. CRMs change. Vendors disappear. Technologies become obsolete.

But the information created inside those systems can remain important long after the software is gone.

Organizations should not have to keep obsolete applications running simply because someone may need to retrieve a record years later.

They should own and control their historical data independently from the software vendors that originally stored it.

ClearVault was built around that principle.

The Historical Access Layer

A Permanent Home for Data From Systems That Aren’t Permanent

Most technology stacks are built around active systems.

ClearVault focuses on what happens after those systems are no longer active.

When a system is retired, its historical data can move into ClearVault, where authorized users can continue to search, view, organize, export, and access that information without keeping the original application alive.

Over time, as more systems are retired, ClearVault becomes a persistent historical layer beneath the organization’s changing application stack.

Our Focus

We’re Deliberately Solving a Specific Problem

ClearVault is not trying to become every part of your data infrastructure. We focus on the problem that appears when an application reaches the end of its useful life but the organization’s need for its data does not.

ClearVault Is

  • A Historical Access Layer
  • A historical data platform
  • A destination for data from retired systems
  • A searchable way to access historical records
  • A governed environment for long-term historical information
  • A way to reduce dependence on obsolete applications
  • A platform that can provide historical data through APIs

ClearVault Is Not

  • A backup system
  • A data warehouse
  • Raw cloud storage
  • A replacement for your ERP or operational applications
  • A generic file archive
  • A system that requires you to keep the legacy application running

Where We’re Going

The Systems Will Change. The Historical Layer Should Remain.

Organizations will continue adopting new software.

That should not mean rebuilding historical access every time an application changes.

Our long-term vision is for ClearVault to become the persistent Historical Access Layer beneath an organization’s evolving technology stack.

Operational systems can come and go while decades of historical information remain available through a consistent layer.

That means employees can continue to access historical records, modern applications can retrieve historical information through APIs, and new technologies can work with organizational history without requiring every original system to remain operational.

Your technology stack can evolve without losing access to your history.

Who We Serve

Built for Organizations With Systems and Data That Outlive Each Other

ClearVault is designed for organizations that maintain important historical information across long technology lifecycles. This includes:

  • Local and state government
  • Financial services
  • Healthcare organizations
  • Enterprises with long-running ERP or operational systems
  • Organizations undergoing modernization or system replacement projects

The common problem is the same: a system is ready to be retired, but the information inside it is still needed.

Retire the System. Keep Access to the Data.

If you are replacing a legacy application and still need the historical data inside it, ClearVault gives you another option besides keeping the old system alive or burying the data in raw storage.
